A Look at Handy Runny Nose Remedy

Runny nose develops in everyone from time to time and while it is not really painful and really serious, it is quite bothersome. There have been cases when runny nose has led to the improvement of nose problems, breathing problems as well as earaches, as a result it is always best to find a home treatment for runny nose, before it gets worst. Below are some runny nose remedy information that you can try.

Rinse your nose with saltwater solution. Though flushing your nose with saltwater solution can be really unpleasant, this really works wonders. In addition, it is very simple to make. All you have to do is to get eight ounces of lukewarm water and dissolve one tablespoon of salt into it. Once the salt has fully dissolved, you can use a dropper to collect some of the solution and drop some of it into your nose; inhaling slightly to take more of the solution in. You can continue doing this runny nose remedy until you feel some relief, and once you finally do, blow your nose to clear it.

Eat spicy foods. This might sound quite weird, especially since spicy food seem to stimulate the runny nose anyway. However, what spicy food can really do is to improve the blood circulation that will temporarily increase the nasal discharge and therefore effectively flush your body of all the waste that are present.

Drop mustard oil into your nostrils. This one is very easy. All you have to do is to heat mustard oil slightly and then you take some into a dropper and then apply the oil one nostril at a time. You can't do both nostrils together because the mustard oil gives off a very good scent. Let it remain in one nostril for one to two minutes, before you drop some on the other nostril.

Inhale thyme. Taking about one or two tablespoons of dry thyme and crush it using a mortar and pestle or a fork (if you do not have one). This will bring out the strong scent of thyme, so inhale it. You can also apply an oil mixture and if so, you can treat it as you would the mustard seed.

Inhale turmeric. A popular ancient Indian runny nose remedy, all you have to do is to soak the dried turmeric and then combine it with linseed oil. Same as the other treatments, inhale it through your nose to clear it.
